Madd Style Cosmetics - Labyrinth Grab Bag Swatches

I feel a bit evil posting this since its not available anymore but it was my first Madd Style Cosmetics purchase and its a great collection! Ever since I was teeny tiny I've been a Labyrinth fan - my sister and I used to watch it over and over all day. So Madd Style releasing Labyrinth Grab Bag = insta purchase.
Madd Style Cosmetics Labyrinth
The bag came with 6 eyeshadows (there are 7 pictured here because I bought one from her regular range with my order), a lip balm, a lip tint and a deluxe sample.

I love the inspiration behind these shades! I couldn't resist going gif searching. :x Click the pics to make them bigger :)

Madd Style Cosmetics Ello
'Ello: "A royal blue with an aqua duochrome and aqua sparkle"

Madd Style Cosmetics Dance Magic
Dance Magic: "a semi-sheer sparklefest of badassery."

Madd Style Cosmetics The Masquerade
The Masquerade: "a nude-pink with bits of silver sparkle"

Madd Style Cosmetics Goblin King
Goblin King: "purple with a blue duo chrome and bits of blue sparkle."

Madd Style Cosmetics Ludo Friend
Ludo, Friend!: "a yellow bronze with flashes of copper"

Madd Style Cosmetics Hoggle and the Bog
Hoggle & the Bog: "A golden green with gold and aqua sparkles."

Madd Style Cosmetics Labyrinth Grab bag
Goblin King is unsurprisingly my fave of the bunch! I love the blue sparkle in Hoggle & the Bog though, and 'Ello is such a fun color and that little worm is adorable!

The deluxe sample I received was 'Diamonds & Crossbones'. Its a super pigmented blue-toned pink.

I also received two lip balms - one called Chilly Down (wild cherry flavor - love it!), and a tinted lip balm called Poisoned Peach, which is (funnily enough) peach tinted and flavored :) I'm liking MSC lip balms - the smell is great, but not overpowering and they seem really moisturising.

I received my order about 2 weeks after ordering - pretty good considering I'm in New Zealand! When I received it I noticed the $5 off coupon which was meant to be included had been left out so I sent an email; I received a reply within a couple of hours with an apology and a voucher for $10 off! I was really happy with the customer service.

I'll be keeping an eye out for more grab bags - I paid $27 +$5 post for this one which I think is pretty good value for what I received. I've just discovered that a new 'Pumpkin King' grab bag is being released 21/09 - I'll definitely be trying to get in on that! You can follow Madd Style Cosmetics on Facebook to keep track of any new releases and news, and the shop is here.

Thanks for viewing my post! :) xx

Notoriously Morbid - More Swatches!

Its probably become pretty clear by now that I'm a big fan of the new indie brand 'Notoriously Morbid', I love everything I've tried so far. I thought I better finish swatching the shades I have since I may have gone a bit crazy over Labor Day and ordered quite a few more :D

These are the other shades from my second order with Notoriously Morbid, you can view the Lady Lovely Locks collection I received in this order here and my first Notoriously Morbid order here. This is what came in my parcel this time:
Notoriously Morbid
I ordered the complete Lady Lovely Locks set, a mini jar of Lunatic Shrilling (this shade was reviewed in my first post) and a sample of Storm and Phoenix Flame. I was sent samples of Jupiter Rain and Savage for free. Carrie also included a gorgeous card with a handwritten note inside and a very generous coupon code - awesome customer service!
Notoriously Morbid Phoenix Flame
Phoenix Flame: "A light high shimmer orange/peach that will give you an unusual sparkle."
A very shimmery, almost caramel color - I think this one is pretty unique, and am looking forward to having a play with it.
Notoriously Morbid Storm
Storm: "A dark gray with a green sheen and blue and green sparkles."
I loved this one even more than I thought I would - I love that its a subdued shade, but it still packs a punch of color. Definitely has a 'Storm' feel to it too.

Notoriously Morbid Jupiter Rain Savage
These two colors are so sparkly! Look at the size of the samples - and they're in nice deep clamshells too, so product doesn't fly everywhere when I close the lid - definite bonus!!
Notoriously Morbid Jupiter Rain
Jupiter Rain: "A dark teal with gold sparkles."
This one is crazy pigmented and I think the gold looks amazing with the teal. Love the fact that its a charity one too.
Notoriously Morbid Savage
Savage: "Orange with aqua sparkles"
Lots of sparkly color in this one! Not normally a color I would wear but I'm definitely going to be trying it out soon. This was a sneak peek from the 'Scary Tales' fall collection, which has just been released.
Jupiter Rain Phoenix Flame Storm Jupiter Rain Savage
Overall, definitely impressed as usual with the quality of these shadows, so amazing from such a new company! My fave of the bunch has to be Storm, closely followed by Jupiter Rain, but they all have special spots in my collection!!

If you haven't tried Notoriously Morbid yet, I strongly recommend them - follow on Facebook, as they run some fantastic deals on Fridays. Notoriously Morbid shadows are available from their Storenvy shop, or their Etsy shop.

Thanks for reading - hope you found the review helpful. :) xxx

Picture Polish 'Ocean' - Swatches & Review

Today I have a gorgeous blue to show you! Picture Polish 'Ocean' is a collaboration shade between Kelly's Kolors and Picture Polish. Ocean has a turquoise jelly base with scattered holo flake particles.
Picture Polish Ocean
These swatches show 3 coats plus topcoat. Formula was great - no problems at all. This shade is inspired by Kelly's love of the ocean and The Beatles.
Picture Polish Ocean
This polish is so pretty, it really does sparkle like the ocean! I love the depth that the holo flakes give. Picture Polish is available at Llarowe, Harlow & Co, Picture Polish and Overall Beauty.

Notoriously Morbid 'Lady Lovely Locks' Collection - Swatches & Review

I am a child of the 80's, and a female, therefore I am a huge Lady Lovely Locks fan. As soon as I saw that Notoriously Morbid had a summer collection of pastel mattes based off the show, I knew I had to have it!

+
= WIN!!!

I even had a Duchess Ravenwaves doll when I was little... I miss that doll! I have no idea what happened to it, this makes me sad :(  So of course I had to include a pic:
Hmm!  I may have just discovered why I keep dying my hair from brown to black and have a thing for the color purple....

Moving on! This collection is amazing, seriously... its like my dream collection of mattes.  All swatches are over Urban Decay Primer Potion and I've used desciptions from Notoriously Morbid's site. The first pic of each shade is in the sun, second is in shade.

Duchess Raven:
"Can be mean, jealous, cruel, stubborn, selfish, domineering, cold, careless and conniving but you have to be to take over the kingdom, right?! A pastel matte purple for a tiny bit of mystery."
Notoriously Morbid Duchess Raven

Lovely Lady:
"Loyal, brave, kind, selfless, polite, resourceful, optimistic, dependable and friendly. Everything a Princess should be. A pastel matte pink for a lovely lady look."
Notoriously Morbid Lovely Lady

Maiden Crown:
"Funny and imaginative with a big heart, loves making up stories, styling her hair, and collecting bugs, but is somewhat impulsive and, despite being quite smart, would sometimes get herself into trouble. A perfect friend for the Princess! A soft pastel matte yellow."

Notoriously Morbid Maiden Crown

Fair Maiden:
"Every Princess needs a bestie! Daydreamer and painter, cool-headed, and intelligent. A pastel matte teal blue to be the fairest of them all."

Notoriously Morbid Fair Maiden

Prince Strong:
"Every story deserves a strong Prince. A matte pastel light blue for a tiny touch of royalty."

Notoriously Morbid Prince Strong

My favourites from the collection are Duchess Raven (of course) and Fair Maiden (because I think its quite a unique shade), but the whole collection is gorgeous. They were all soft, buildable and easy to blend - they weren't chalky at all like some mattes can be. I adore these and can see myself using them all the time! I got these at an amazing price - just $2.50 USD each, and also there was a sale at the time, so I also got them at 40% off! I believe these are currently being cleared out to make way for the fall collection, so get them while you can, I promise you'll love them!

Left to Right: Duchess Raven, Maiden Crown, Lovely Lady, Prince Strong, Fair Maiden

I bought these in my second order from Notoriously Morbid (the rest of which I'll swatch asap), and am amazed again at the quality, as well as the amazing customer service. Click here to see my first post :) I'm definitely going to become a regular customer, I've already got my cart filled up for my next order :x

Hope you enjoyed my post, thanks so much for reading! xx

Digital Nails 'Dig Deep' & 'Lying' - Swatches & Review

Hey guys! Sorry I've been a bit quiet, hectic week! Today I've got two polishes from Digital Nails to show you.  I picked up Lying and Dig Deep in a recent restock.
Digital Nails Dig Deep
Dig Deep is a "neutral gray crelly packed full of multiple sizes of matte gray glitter, and also a pale aqua glitter". Dig Deep is inspired by diamond blocks in Minecraft - though there must have been some drama over that, as the listing is now titled: "Dig Deep: a Digital Nails nail lacquer inspired by mining diamonds in that game that I'm not allowed to mention." Sigh! I've done my time in minecraft, so I'm loving the geeky reference. Even if it does bring back memories of many lava + creeper related deaths!!
Digital Nails Dig Deep

I think this captures the color of diamond ore really well! The swatch shows four coats alone (no undies) and two coats of topcoat. Although I love the depth of this, I will definitely use undies next time. I had no issues with the formula and didn't have to fish for glitter. Definitely a fan of this one.
Digital Nails Dig Deep

The other polish I purchased was 'Lying', which is a thermal color change polish.
Digital Nails Lying
"It’s a dusty deep purple at room temperature & transitions to a rich dusty teal when it goes above 88 degrees F" (approx 31 degrees Celsius). When I buy color change polishes I tend to go for quite dramatic change and this one doesn't disappoint!
Digital Nails LyingDigital Nails Lying
Apparently this polish was inspired by The Lying Cat from the graphic novel series 'Saga'. I'm not familiar with this series so I had to google a pic:
The swatches show 3 coats plus topcoat, and the formula was perfect.
Digital Nails Lying

This was definitely a good first experience with Digital Nails - I like the thought and care that goes into creating their polish and their geeky inspiration is definitely a selling point for me! My order shipped quickly and arrived faster than I expected.

Digital Nails lacquers can be purchased through their etsy store and both of these shades are currently in stock :)
