'Peacock Pie' Nail Polish Jewellery - Pics & Review

I have something very special to share today - Nail Polish Jewellery handmade in New Zealand by the gorgeous Serra of Peacock Pie! Imagine how excited I was to receive this in the mail:
Peacock Pie Jewellery
Serra used Emily de Molly 'Cosmic Forces' in my pendant, and I am in love. The necklace is extremely well made, you can really see the love she puts into each piece. Its a fantastic way to appreciate those indie nail polishes - it never chips, and I never have to remove it :) Also it sparkles away brilliantly in the sun! I am so proud to wear it, I've had it on every day since I received it and gotten a bunch of compliments!
Serra has recently opened her shop on Etsy and the prices are amazing, ranging from NZD $9 to $13 depending on the polish and detail in the piece. She paints some gorgeous designs and is happy to take custom requests - Serra is a lovely person and will work with you to get the piece just right. I highly recommend you check her store out - I'm already planning a few more ... a bat design, a butterfly for my mother, a nightsong grotto piece... ahh the possibilities!!! Shipping is available worldwide and the jewellery comes beautifully packaged with a chain and in a box. :) Head on over and take a look at all of her stunning work! Peacock Pie is also on Facebook.

Notoriously Morbid - Swatches & Review

I'm really excited about todays blog post because I get to share my review of a relatively new brand - Notoriously Morbid (love the name by the way!). I've heard them mentioned a few times recently in the indie makeup world so I headed to their website to have a look. I was immediately drawn in by the pic above.. ahh I mean it has BATS! Who doesn't like bats? And FANGS - love it! Seriously, its like this brand was made for me!
Anyway.. then I started looking through the collections and colors - there is a great variety and a lot of the shades looked quite unique. I decided to place an order for a blogger pack which includes one full jar and five baggie samples. The shades are random but I left a note asking if I could have Morgana as my jar since I love purples. This is what I received:
Notoriously Morbid
I love it when I get personalised notes like this! This is one of the reasons I buy from small companies, its obvious that time and thought was put into my order.  I even got purple tissue paper <3 The owner of Notoriously Morbid seems like such a lovely person too, I emailed a few times with shipping related questions and got a super polite reply almost immediately.
Notoriously Morbid
I didnt just get five samples, but SEVEN! Look at those colors! I was so excited when I saw this - I took one look and ran off to get swatching supplies.
Notoriously Morbid Morgana
I got my jar of Morgana! And its just as amazing as I had imagined.. *drool*. If you like purple you really need to check this shade out.  Onto the swatches! All are over pixie epoxy and I've used the descriptions from Notoriously Morbids' store because I dont think I could describe them better!

Morgana: "A beautiful purple that is very deceiving, it goes on blue with a purple duochrome. It's the perfect blurple!"
Ahhh.. perfect, even better than I'd hoped for <3 It really is the perfect blurple.

Mystique: "A deep lush blue with a gorgeous silver sparkle". This shade is amazing - pretty sure I was drooling while swatching this lol. With all of these shades I found a little goes a very long way - super pigmented.

Stripper Zombie: "A sour apple green with a gold duochrome and packed with gold sparkle".
This shade took me by surprise, I didn't expect to love it - but then I swatched it... and it instantly became one of my faves of the bunch. This particular shade of green just looks perfect with the gold, and the duochrome effect is really strong. I can see myself using this a lot, might have to get it in a full size.

Lunatic Shrilling: "A dark purple grey with copper sparkles and a copper sheen".
As soon as I saw this I knew I would love it, I really like these sorts of purples, and this shade really came alive in the sun.

Silence: "Silence a very dark grey boarding on black except this bad baby has a crap load of sparkles to lighten your eyes!"
Awesome description lol, and pretty accurate too! This shade is quite unique in my collection, and I'm looking forward to trying it as a liner.

A nice solid purple! Definitely one to grab before it disappears.

Ooo I really like this one.. really soft and delicate looking. Another one I can imagine using a lot!

Zinthos (Shade)
Zinthos: "A dark grey purple with blue and pink sparkles".
I dont feel like this one photographed quite right - it was a bit more purple in person, although it is very dark.

I am so excited about this brand - the quality, wear time and complexity of the shades is stunning, I highly recommend grabbing some samples and trying them for yourself.

Notoriously Morbid offer three sizes:
Sample Size (generous -  seems similar to Shiro's samples - approx 1/4 teaspoon in bag) - $1.25
Mini Size (1.5 g in jar - this is comparable to other indie full-sizes) - $2.75
Full Size (Completely packed 5g jar - a LOT of product)- $5.50
International shipping is available.

I'm very impressed with this brand so far and I look forward to trying more from them and possibly posting some looks. I already have the Lady Lovely Locks summer collection of mattes on the way :)

Find Notoriously Morbid on:
Storenvy
Etsy
Facebook - they run some great sales on Fridays which they announce on their facebook page.

Thank you for taking the time to read my post - hope you enjoyed it! Now I'm off to browse NM's site some more and plan my next order :) xxx

Wing Dust Collections 'Night Fury' - Swatches & Review

Night Fury! Who could resist a polish named after this:
CUTEST. DRAGON. EVER.  Ok.. so I'm a bit of a fan aaand I have two sons... I know what you're thinking!  "Yes yes, that dragon is awesome.... but we're here for the polish!". So here it is:
Wing Dust Night Fury
Nearly as amazing as Toothless himself (:P), this is a gorgeous deep purple/blue jelly polish loaded with blue and purple iridescent glitters and shimmers.
Wing Dust Night Fury
Shown here is three coats with one layer of top coat.  This was my first polish from Wing Dust and I was really impressed with the formula - it glided on really smoothly, not thick at all, and wore really well. I love they way it appeared to almost glow in certain lights. I will definitely be checking out what else they've got, I know they've released a few new polishes recently that looked interesting.
Wing Dust Night Fury
I definitely recommend getting hold of this polish if you're a fan of this type of shade!  I picked this up at Llarowe but Wing Dust Collections also has an etsy store.
Thanks for reading, hope you enjoyed this post! :) xx

Emily de Molly 'Cosmic Forces' - Swatches & Review

What would a nail blog be without the mandatory Cosmic Forces post??  This seriously must be one of the most popular indie polishes out there, making it a bit of a pain to get hold of. :-/
Emily de Molly Cosmic Forces
Ahhh, love it :P  A definite must-have for any circle glitter lovers!  The pics show 3 coats of Cosmic Forces with 1 coat of top coat.  Formula is good, however you do have to fish a bit for the larger glitters.
Emily de Molly Cosmic Forces
Cosmic Forces is a dark purple jelly polish, filled with Lavender holo dots and hex and pink dots glitter. The holographic circles in the jelly base give the polish really good depth - definitely one of those polishes that you put on and then spend the rest of the day staring at your hands.
Emily de Molly Cosmic Forces

Emily de Molly has followed this up with a blue version (Oceanic Forces) and a black version (Dark Forces). These polishes are available to Australians through Emily de Molly's etsy store, or Femme Fatale Cosmetics. Internationals can stalk Mei Mei's Signatures and Llarowe for restocks.

Gloss 'N Sparkle Melodious: Swatches and Review

My first swatch post!  Not that the pics are even of my hands lol.  My friend (Amie) and I work on this blog together, sometimes swatches will be mine and sometimes they will be hers.  Today they're hers!

Gloss 'n Sparkle Melodious is descibed as 'a dark blue leaning purple with a gorgeous pink shimmer and speckles of holographic gold'.

When on the nail this polish appeared to be more of a blackened purple than a blue, but the rest of the description is pretty accurate.  The shimmer in this polish is super pretty and the gold glitter is a really nice touch.  Formula was good, the polish went on smoothly and I had no problems to report - shown here is 3 coats, with Nailtek base coat and Jordana Quick Shine top coat.

Macro to show the glittery shimmery goodness!

We're definitely fans of this one - what do you think?  Gloss 'N Sparkle can be purchased from their Etsy Store (for Australians only), Shoppe Eclecticco, or Llarowe.

All products reviewed were purchased by myself or Amie, and all opinions are our own.
