Notoriously Morbid 'Scary Tales' Collection + New Blushes & Lip Balms - Swatches & Review

Hi guys! I have some more Notoriously Morbid swatches to share! I am on a mission to own every shade this company produces in at least sample form :) I would just like to let you know that I've purchased everything myself, I love these products so much that I need to own all the things!

I recently ordered the complete Scary Tales collection, some in sample and some in full size. I love the theme behind this collection, they're all based on fairy tale characters but with a fantastically morbid twist :) Swatches are over pixie epoxy, and I borrowed the descriptions from the Notoriously Morbid store.
Notoriously Morbid Snow Queens Return Swatch
Notoriously Morbid Snow Queens Return Swatch
Snow Queen's Return: "To be used as a highlighter, this ice white shimmer is packed with blue, purple, and silver sparkles."
Oh, how I adore this shade... this is one of those times I want to throw my camera at the wall! It really doesn't come close to picking up the sheer genius that is Snow Queen's Return. I love it.. I've searched for a shade like this one. I am so proud of myself for picking up a full jar, I'm gonna need it! I urge you to go buy it - you can thank me later <3

Notoriously Morbid Snow's Fury Swatch
Notoriously Morbid Snow's Fury Swatch
Snow's Fury: "A dark metallic blue with aqua sparkles."
Another one I picked up a full size of, and again - I'm so happy I did. Such a deep and beautiful shade. Snow White is my favourite fairy tale character, and this shade is definitely worthy!

Notoriously Morbid Cin's Sins Swatch
Cin's Sins: "A unique light bright blue with a slight purple shift and silver sparkle."
Loving the purple shift in this one, and look at the little story Carrie wrote for it: "She poisoned the step family, bludgeoned her Fairy Godmother with a wand and took the Prince's virginity, all in a nights work." Hahaha love it :)

Notoriously Morbid Lycans Revenge Swatch

Lycan's Revenge: A dark red orange with golden sparkle.
This one is amazingly pigmented, and such a fantastic shade of red - with that gold sparkle, its just perfection.

Notoriously Morbid Belles Bounty Swatch

Belle's Bounty: "A dark metallic gold with gold sparkles."
While gold isn't really my color, I do enjoy having this one in my collection. I feel like its a bit more wearable for me than a lot of golds - its not as bright and a bit more orange toned as what I'm used to seeing. I can almost pick a slight green cast to it in some lights - such a unique shade.

Notoriously Morbid Spiteful Jas Swatch
Notoriously Morbid Spiteful Jas Swatch
Spiteful Jas: "Emerald green with a slight gold shift and golden sparkles."
Why didn't I order this one in full size... *facepalm*. Just... stunning.

Notoriously Morbid Gretels Ghost Swatch

Gretel's Ghost: "A warm golden gingerbread brown."
Ahh... what a beautiful brown! <-- this is not something you will see very often on this blog, but in this case it needs to be said. Click the pic... make it bigger! You'll see what I mean :)

Savage: "Orange with aqua sparkles"
I've reviewed this one before in this post, but thought I would re-post it with the rest of the set.

Overall, a gorgeous collection full of pigmented and unique shades. I love how easy these are to work with too, I have no troubles blending and no issues with anything looking patchy. All of the above shades besides Snow Queen's Return and Snow's Fury were received in sample bags which I tipped into jars. The sample size is super generous, enough to last quite a few applications.

And now, onto the blushes!
Notoriously Morbid are releasing 5 blushes in a collection called 'Ripper's Rogue'. They come in 20 gram jars and contain 4 - 4.5 grams of product. And again Carrie has written some really fun little stories in her descriptions - make sure you check them out.

Notoriously Morbid Blush
Mary Ann's Misery (Left), Annie's Agony (Right)
The jars did come with sealed sifters but... well... I got excited and ripped them open without thinking about taking pics first *slaps hand*. Look at the size of these jars, so much product! I really like the jar style too, nice and easy to work with.

Annie's Agony: "A Victorian Pink shimmer with a gold shift."
Lol, loving these names. The gold shift in this is incredibly pretty! I think this one is going to be popular.

Mary Ann's Misery: "The perfect mauve shimmer with a red to orange shift."
I love both blushes, but for me this is the one. I've worn it nearly every day since I received it and its just my perfect shade. <3
Notoriously Morbid Coffin Kissers Lip Balm
And finally, the Coffin Kisser lip balms! These instantly appealed to me due to my inexplicable obsession with bats as well as the fun names. These did come sealed also, but yeah... I was excited :P I've tried a few indie lip balms, and Detrivore have always topped my list with their embalming tubes - they're so moisturising and fantastic. The only problem I ever had with them was that they were quite soft, and I've had issues with them kind of.. coming apart on me lol. Well, the coffin kissers are super moisturising like Detrivores, but with a much more stable consistency - and they've now taken my top spot. <-- I'm enjoying the fact that it looks like I've found my one stop indie shop.... if only she would make a primer I'd be all set :) Coffin Kissers are currently available in 3 flavors - 'Rotten Rainbow' (Apricot Sherbert), 'Terrified Mint Tango' (Mint Tangerine) and 'Unidentified Undead' (Unflavored). My fave so far is Terrified Mint Tango, but I hear some fall flavors are coming soon... These are very reasonably priced at only $3 each - I plan on buying a few for Christmas pressies.

Phew! I know when I post about this company its a bit of a rave-fest, but seriously... its just all. so. good. If you haven't tried them yet, I encourage you to at least grab a few samples - just don't blame me when you get hooked ;) I am up to about my 5th order, and don't plan on stopping anytime soon :P At least thats good news for you guys if you enjoy seeing swatches, there are a lot more on the way!

Don't forget to keep an eye on the facebook page for some great specials - you can visit the storenvy store here and the etsy store here. Order processing time for me has always been within a week, and the customer service is great.

Thankyou for reading, I hope you've enjoyed my post! :) xx

My Pretty Zombie - Swatches & Review

I have been eyeing up My Pretty Zombie on etsy for a while, so when I saw that she was running her annual sale of 33% off I decided it was a good excuse to pick up some samples!
I placed an order for 6 eyeshadow samples and 5 blush samples. This is what came in the mail:
My Pretty Zombie Samples
A cute kitty card filled with powdered awesome! There was a bit of leakage from one of the blushes, but meh.. it happens, not enough to bother me :) I ordered 6 shades of eyeshadow and a sample set of 5 blushes (I received 6!).
I have to admit, I worried about what would happen if this got opened by customs lol - little bags of powder labelled with diseases and drug names.. fortunately it didn't get inspected :D

Now... the swatches!!! Unfortunately I don't really think my pics did these shades justice, but hopefully you get an idea of how amazing they are!  Swatched over Pixie Epoxy in natural light and the descriptions are taken from My Pretty Zombie's store.

First up: the eyeshadows:

My Pretty Zombie Gangrenous
Gangrenous: "starts as a dark lavender and switches to a glossy green depending on the light and the angle"
This shade went straight into my top 5 eyeshadows - I had decided before I even finished one eye that I needed a full size. The duochrome effect is gorgeous and purple and green is always a winning combo for me.

My Pretty Zombie Anthrax
Anthrax: "Purple to Green with a gold to red shift"
Grr, my picture of this is not great, I couldn't seem to pick up the green - its much more obvious in person, I love it.

My Pretty Zombie Hoof and Mouth
Hoof and Mouth: :Blue to purple with a pink and silver shift"
I found the shift in this shade to be less obvious than the one in Anthrax, however its still a gorgeous shade.

My Pretty Zombie Grandma Cleavage
Grandma Cleavage: " a cornflower crayon blue with a gold shift...tacky yet fascinating"
Lol.. love the description. I think this shade is really pretty, the gold makes it really unique.

My Pretty Zombie Rabies
Rabies: "Minty green with a purple shift"
Another one that frustrated me when I tried to capture its complexity! You can't really see the purple shift in my pic, but its there - I promise!! This was my second fave after Gangrenous.
My Pretty Zombie mNg
mNg #3: "Bubblegum Pink with a blueish purple shift"
I don't normally gravitate towards pink... but I admit I really like this one. The blue in it makes it wearable for me.

Next, the blushes...

My Pretty Zombie PCP THC Blush
PCP: "peach with gold glitter"
I have to admit, I haven't been brave enough to try this one yet, I really don't know if I could pull off orange blush.... I like the idea of giving it a try though.
THC: "lavender with a sticky green shift"
Again with the purple and green, it goes without saying that I love this one - its my favourite blush of the bunch!

My Pretty Zombie LSD 6-Mam Blush
Benzodiazepine: "a red, red, red blush"
Woah... this blush.. its so RED. I am super pale so I'd have to be feeling brave to try it... I wish I could pull it off though!
LSD: "a muted gray plum with a groovy red to gold shift"
Such a unique shade for a blush - looking forward to giving this one a go.
6-Mam: "plum with violet shimmer"
I like this one a lot, definitely won't have trouble using up the sample.

My Pretty Zombie MDMA Blush
MDMA: "rosy pink with a gold afterglow"
This blush is pretty well known in the indie world, and for good reason - its gorgeous. I nearly ordered the full size of this but it occurred to me that it might be quite similar to Femme Fatale's 'Fire Bloom' blush. Heres the comparison:

My Pretty Zombie MDMA Blush Femme Fatale Fire Bloom
Pretty similar right? In my opinion you don't need both. If I had to pick a favourite it woould be MDMA, its slightly more pigmented and has a bit more shimmer - but its really close.

Overall, definitely a great first experience with My Pretty Zombie. I received my order in about 2 weeks (to NZ) and that was during a sale. I've already placed another order which includes full sizes of Gangrenous, Rabies, Anthrax and THC - the thought of running out of any of them is devastating! :P  Would love some suggestions on which other shades to try. :)

Thanks for reading my post, hope you enjoyed it! xx

Femme Fatale - Haul and Swatches

Look what I got in the mail!  A package full of awesome from Femme Fatale!  I decided to place an order while the international polish clearance was on because I'd been eyeing up some eyeshadows anyway and it made the postage cost more worthwile.  I just want to say that the customer service at Femme Fatale is amazing - I was really annoying and decided I wanted to add to my order after I'd already placed it and Sophie was really helpful, she replied to my emails straight away and made the process really easy!  The turn around time is really quick and my products were pacakged safely and securely.  Delivery to New Zealand only took about a week.  Here is what I received.
How cute is that?  Presentation definitely influences how I feel about a brand and I love it when companies take the time to make customers feel special and like a huge amount of care has been taken with every order.

My Femme Fatale super-haul
I ordered an Arcane Lacquer in 'Forget Me Not' (swatches and review to come), a full size blush in 'Fire Bloom', 1 full size eyeshadow in 'The Nightmare' and 7 mini jars in the shades Desecration, Shooting Stars, Nightlash, Haunt, Efflorescence, Polymorph and Dreamstate.  I also received 3 sample bags of 'Heart Blossom' Illuminator, 'Fizzy Fruit' Blush and 'Darkmist' eyeshadow.  I love how she gave me a sample of each different type of product to try and am particularly happy with Heart Blossom because I wanted to try one of her illuminators (they're great by the way!).

femme fatale eyeshadow mini jars

I'm really impressed with the amount of product in the mini jars, these are definitely going to last me a while.  I had to have a full size jar of The Nightmare though, its just such an amazing colour!
The Nightmare eyeshadow swatches Desecration, Shooting Stars, Nightlash, Haunt, Efflorescence, Polymorph and Dreamstate
Swatches are taken in natural light - unfortunately they dont convey the sheer awesomeness of these shades, but it was the best I could do!  These were swatched over Fyrinnae Pixie Epoxy (if you don't have this by the way, go and get it!!! Its amazing).  Left to Right is:  Darkmist, Haunt, The Nightmare, Desecration, Dreamstate, Nightlash, Efflorescence, Polymorph, Shooting Stars and at the top is the blush - Fire Bloom.

I love all of these.  A lot.  I'm definitely going back for more!  My favourites are The Nightmare, Dreamstate, Nightlash and Shooting Stars, but like I said, I adore them all.  The blush is really pretty too and needs to be seen in person to really appreciate.  Here is another pic just because I think it shows the sparkle well.
The prices of these are great too, in AUD: $5.85 for a full size jar, $3.10 for a mini jar ($3.20 if you want a sifter), and $1.10 for a sample bag.  Femme Fatale ships powder cosmetics internationally and shipping is free on sample only orders.  I strongly recommend giving this brand a go!  Her products are lovely, particularly the duochrome eyeshadows (of which she has a great selection!).

And now, just because I'm on a bit of a Femme Fatale kick, here is a pic of my current collection of Femme Fatale polishes - they're just as pretty and unique as the eyeshadows!  I think I might have to do a Femme Fatale swatch month so I can show you guys these!  (I may also have more of the way... :X  - yup, I'm addicted).
Femme Fatale Nail Lacquer: Top Row: The Other Side of the World, Nightsong Grotto, Librarian's Shush, Keeper of the Grove, Jadefire, Displaced Dreams.  Bottom Row: Wolfsbane, Scorchling, Planar Anomalies, Incendius, Lucent Ametrine, Edge of the Cosmos.

Have you tried Femme Fatale?  What are your favourite  shades?
